LANGUAGE LEARNING STRATEGIES USED BY LEARNERS IN LEARNING SPEAKING

Language learning strategies guide language learners to become active that can provide their own needs and choose preference in the language. Therefore, this study was done used by high low achieving students speaking as well how they apply strategies. There were 20 participants taking part study. They classified into achievers based on score of performances. SILL questionnaire proposed Oxford (1990) adapted better fit purpose The validity reliability also measure what it intended measure. Besides questionnaire, a semi-structured interview instrument complement quantitative data. Based data gathered through revealed metacognitive strategy most frequently students. Additionally, interviews showed each group applied all (1990); memory strategy, cognitive compensation affective social strategy. However, achiever reported using higher number (13 strategies) than (11 strategies). confirms who have level English competence will almost certainly wider learning.
